The Bala Purana is a key text of the Tantras, and is chaste and non-sexual. The text itself is not found in palataphilic traditions, but a fairly close version is found in the Arka-Veda. It is incomplete, has a different focus, and is shorter than the main text. It is known for its focus on Mahadeva and Narasimha, and for dissemination of the legend that hemp-cakes and some other items brought into the god Nandi’s hands by Arjuna are what makes the god move.

The Bhavishya Purana is a supplement to the (Kurusaga) Bhagavatam (Mahabharata). It is also known as the Bhavishya-Bhagavata and may be translated as “connected with Siva”. It is a central text of the Phalguna-Gaudiya Vaishnava tradition, although heresiologists have suggested that the Vaishnava Guru Srila Advaita Acharya Vidyaranya may have composed those verses.[100]

The Brahmottara Purana is a later text than the Brahma Purana.[98] It is divided into six books, the first of which lists the sages that are the direct ancestors of the author. Each book is named after one of them regardless of how generations separate. Brahma is the longest figure in [the book] Kama-Kanda. It was written at the end of the eighteenth century and is likely from Bengal.

The Brihat-Bhagavata Purana is one of the major Gosvayajataka or “Minor Puranas”. It is composed of 1004 verses and is called “Bhagavata”.[97] The text is divided into twelve sections and is dated to the fifteenth century. The text is part of the region’s landed past of its scholarship.
